Neuro linguistic programming

Hi – What’s working for you this week?

This time I thought it would be great to introduce you to some NLP ( Neuro linguistic programming) presuppositions and how they can move you closer to your goal.

What’s NLP (Neuro linguistic programming) anyway?  Basically it’s how to use the language of the mind to consistently achieve your specific and desired outcomes.  NLP is the science of human excellence.

Why are the presuppositions so important?  We all have a value system that is made up of various beliefs, so why not have one that serves us, a belief system that nurtures, challenges and supports us.  A belief system that really drives us forward to where we want to go.  After all, you wouldn’t put second grade fuel in your car, so why on earth would you want to put anything but super grade fuel in your mind?

OK so what are these presuppositions?

A presupposition is something we assume to be true.  It may not be true but we assume it’s true, it’s what we believe to be true.  All value systems are based on beliefs we have decided are true, ie true for us and therefore they work for us.

In Neuro linguistic programming they are beliefs we have decided are true and beliefs that will serve, support, nurture and/or challenge us in a positive way forward.  So, let’s take a look at one.

People have all the Resources they need to succeed and achieve their goals.  There are no unresourceful people – only unresourceful emotional states.

WOW – this one is really powerful.  How can this work for you?

Just knowing you have all the resources you need to achieve and succeed.  Now the challenge is to list what you think you will need to succeed with your venture.  What resources do you need to succeed?

And the second half of this presupposition says there are no unresourceful people – so you have no excuse – there are only unresourceful emotional states.  So what’s holding you back?  Who do you need to be to do what you need to do so you can have what you want?

This is where your coach can help.

What if you believed the presupposition were true?

What if you believed the presupposition were not true?

What if you didn’t believe the presupposition were true?

What if you didn’t believe the presupposition were not true?

And there’s more, so much more and until next time –

Every champion deserves a coach, why not you.

Talk soon.
